Communicating with Men...or, Eating Soup with a Butter Knife

Papa Bear and I stayed up way too late talking. This usually results in me bearing my soul...staying up late is never a good idea for me.
Papa Bear isn't really the soul-bearing type. So we end up with a lot of conversations like this:
me: "What do you love about me? you can't say 'everything', that doesn't count."
husband: after a few quiet moments, "I think what I really love most about you is the deep and affirming love that you have for (here is where I wait for something about what a beautiful, loving mother I am) Lizard Lick Towing."

**for those who aren't familiar, Lizard Lick Towing is a show on television. I enjoy watching it. Don't judge me. It's hilarious. My husband thinks it is really funny that I watch this show, which I totally don't get because he is the one who introduced it to me in the first place. Hypocrite.

OR, this:

me: "Sometimes I just feel like I'm not a very good mom. I'm not a fun mom or a cool mom. I'm just the laundry-folding mom. The diaper-changing, dish-washing, tub-bathing, cheese-shredding, spaghetti-making mom."
husband: "Yeah, we should just go back to buying shredded cheese."

Really? That's what you took from that conversation? Geesh. Men.

hehehehe, that sounds like me and my hubby... and our late night talks usually end with me crying because he is tired, and doesn't really have it in him to be sympathetic! LOL

i LOVE the look of your blog!!! such a funny post :) you are the best mom, most of the time all that jazz about "cool" moms is just to impress other people anyway... your kids are lucky/blessed that their needs come first, they are well-loved and that's more important than anything "cool" in the world, u da coolest:) love ya!

hahahahahaah. tom and i have also had those "you can't just say you love EVERYTHING about me" conversations.
i watched a documentary and the husband is making the wife do some extreme "eco-friendly" stuff to their house, like cutting off their electricity. so they're trying to jerry-rig a refrigerator with a thing called a "pot in a pot'. my favorite scene of the whole movie is when the husband asks the wife, "So, what do you think about the pot in a pot?"
and she replies, "I JUST DON'T KNOW WHY YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER BABY!"
i loved it.
male/female communication at its finest.

Haha too funny. Seriously just laughed out loud. Love it. :) I love you guys! p.s. I think men are just very practical sometimes; hence the shredded-cheese comment ;)

Oh Jenny don't be fooled. When it comes to my husband, he says those things because he thinks he's funny. Of course, as it turns out, he usually is. We both had a good laugh over the cheese comment. He's such a goof ball.
